About the Department

The Department of Computer Science and Systems Technology was founded on 1 January 1995 as one of the four successor chairs of the former Department of Information Technology and Automation. The department's founder was Ferenc Friedler who has been heading it ever since.

The department's mission is to provide teaching in computer science as part of the Information Technology Course and perform research in related areas. The subject offered for the Course range from purely theoretical ones (Theory of Automata and Formal Languages, Theory of Database Systems, Theory of Compiler) through specific subjects (Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Engineering, Artifical Intelligence) to technical applications oriented subjects (Computer Aided Control, Systems Analysis and Synthesis, Engineering Design).

The department is commited to develop well-estabilished mathematical methods and computational tool for engineering applications.
